Penny Brohn is an amazing Bristol based charity that offers support to those affected by cancer. For both patients and their families, they offer support at their home in Bristol. They offer support and respite through offering courses, therapy and a centre for anyone to come and get support.
Every year, Penny Brohn host their Long Table lunch to raise money for the charity. It’s a very glamorous event held in the grounds of their amazing house just outside Bristol. Starting with a Champagne reception at lunchtime, the atmosphere was fantastic. The aim of the afternoon is to raise money and educate to ensure the future of the charity. One of the fund raising ideas was the purchase and popping of a purple balloon which then had to be burst to reveal a possible prize. They must have sold out of the balloons as all you could hear was the constant popping!
After the drinks receptions, it was off to the marquee for the lunch itself, speeches and the auction. The afternoon was hosted by BBC News Points West presenter Alex Lovell, who did an amazing job of managing the whole afternoon. There were various speeches throughout the afternoon and the all important auction that raised thousands for the charity!
Actress and Casualty star Amanda Mealing shared her personal experiences with the event at the end of lunch in a very open conversation about her recovery. Peaches Golding OBE received the prestigious Jackie Collins Inspirational Women Award in recognition of her contribution to the Bristol Community and her own experience of living with Cancer
The whole event was an amazing success with thousands of pounds raised for Penny Brohn. We look forward to photographing more events for the charity at their Bristol headquarters.
