actor interview series | Siôn Rickard
Japanese viral sensation, Twitter spats with Nigel Farage, Actor, Singer and top guy, Siôn Rickard!
Its rare that I meet someone that talks more than I do but Siôn certainly had me matched! The shoot with him was great. He has an incredible energy and positivity. Siôn has just signed with a new agent and we think he has an amazing career ahead! Enjoy this interview with him, his actor headshots and some interesting revelations!
Tell us a little about yourself….
Welsh actor/singer-songwriter from the wild hills of Snowdonia. Speaks Welsh. Based in Cardiff. Loves a curry.
Where did you study and do you think that a formal education in performance is essential to being successful?
Rose Bruford Actor-Musician BA. It can help, but it’s certainly not essential. There are many different avenues to developing your craft, and some noteable actors such as Cillian Murphy (Peaky Blinders) learnt their trade on the job. A good drama school training is definitely useful for theatre work, but when it comes to screen and TV I’d argue it’s less important.
What inspired you to be an actor / performer? Was it a person or a particular event?
My Mam saw that playing make believe/acting in home movies was something I enjoyed so she encouraged me to join an acting class at Step One, Colwyn Bay. Andrea Wilder was my tutor, and she’s brilliant. Really helped a lot of us, and gave me my first job! (with her theatre company Cats Paw)

What is the hardest role you have ever played, and why?
When I’m not performing, I work in classrooms as a cover supervisor – thats essentially an untrained supply teacher. Playing the part of a real life teacher keeping real life teenagers from rioting is definitely tougher than any role I’ve had to play on stage.
Tell us three interesting facts about yourself
I appeared on a dating show and forgot my dates name
I hitchhiked to Macedonia to volunteer in a refugee camp.
Nigel Farage and Katie Hopkins slagged me off in twitter (long story)
Do you have a job or side hustle to support your career and if so, what do you do?
Teaching Assistant and cover supervisor
What is your greatest claim to fame?
Me and my brother went viral in Japan for singing their national anthem (check my twitter) This isn’t technically my biggest claim to fame; but I won’t mention my other claim as it involves politics, and silly tabloid newspapers.
Whats next for you?
I’ve recently signed with a new agent, and I’m working hard on my music and song writing. Things are looking up.
